What I just pushed

File-Transfer-Website is a small website for moving files between my Debian Linux computer and my iPhone. It is built for minimal traffic. You upload links and files from the phone, and you download them on Linux. The code is at https://github.com/kleinpanic/File-Transfer-Website.

What it does

You log in first. After that you can upload a link or a file. The site keeps your uploads in a list and shows which device and which IP address each upload came from. From the list you can download one file, rename it or preview it. There are also buttons to download all the photos, all the videos or all the other files at once.

How it works

It is Python with Flask 3.0.3 and flask-talisman, SQLite for the data, and Pillow for previews. The password is stored as a salted hash. After repeated failed logins from one IP address, that address gets locked out. The code is in server/, with app.py for the routes, security.py for the login rules and db_setup.py for the database. There is a license too, GPL-3.0.

Install

git clone https://github.com/kleinpanic/File-Transfer-Website
cd File-Transfer-Website
./install.sh
python app.py

Run the last line inside the virtual environment the install script makes. You need python3, venv, pip, sqlite3, curl and openssl.

What is not done

The server runs over HTTPS with an ad hoc certificate, and Flask debug mode is on. Do not put it on the open internet as it is.

There is no tag and no release. This is the first version.

P.S Thanks for reading. Consider subbing to the RSS feed.
