What I just released
I just released v72-y260-1, an unofficial firmware patch for the full-size Monoprice MP10. It also fits the Malyan MA10 class of printer. The repo is at https://github.com/kleinpanic/Monoprice-MP10-V72-Y-Boundary-Firmware-Patch.
Use it at your own risk. It is a binary patch to printer firmware.
The problem
The stock v72 calibration drives the Y axis out to about Y290. The bed hits the front hard limit around Y260 to Y270. That causes grinding. The patch bounds the Y soft limit and the UBL high-Y path to 260 mm.
What the patch changes
It edits five 32-bit float words in the official v72 update.bin.
- Y soft endstop goes from 300.0 to 260.0
- UBL high-Y mesh coordinate goes from 290.0 to 260.0
- the shared UBL clamp constants go from 290.0 to 260.0
The release ships update.bin, manifest.json, manifest.md and SHA256SUMS.txt, plus the tooling and the Ghidra output I used for analysis. Check the file against SHA256SUMS.txt before you flash it.
Flashing
Copy firmware/update.bin to the root of a FAT microSD card. Power the printer off, insert the card and power on. Wait, then remove the file or rename it. Then check from a terminal:
M115 -> VERSION: 72
M211 -> max Y260.00
G29 W -> mesh ends at 260.000
Keep official v72 rollback media on hand.
What is not done
The README talks about one tested printer. Yours may behave differently, so keep the rollback media close.
