What I just pushed
rpkit is a command line tool for Minecraft resource packs. It is one Python file. The code is at https://github.com/kleinpanic/rpkit.
What it does
It has a few subcommands:
- analyze prints the SHA-1, the size, pack_format, supported_formats, the namespaces and the file count. It also estimates which Minecraft versions the pack works with.
- edit changes the fields in pack.mcmeta. Use --set key=value.
- merge combines packs. When two packs have the same file, you pick first-wins or last-wins. It prints a conflict report and can write a JSON log.
- upload-github publishes the zip to a GitHub Release. It then prints a snippet for server.properties.
- sha1, id and serverprops do the small jobs.
It is only for resource packs. It is not a datapack, mod or plugin manager.
How it works
rpkit is Python 3.8 or newer. It uses the standard library, and only the uploads need requests. For uploads it reads a token from GITHUB_TOKEN or GH_TOKEN. It is MIT licensed.
The file is rpkit.py, 628 lines. The code says version 2.1.0, and so does the README.
chmod +x rpkit.py
python rpkit.py --version
python -m pip install requests
Only run the last line if you want to upload. Do it inside a virtual environment.
What is not done
It is not on PyPI. You save the file and run it. There is no tag and no release.
The version already says 2.1.0 on the first commit. I do not have the 1.x history in git, so I cannot show you how it got here.
P.S Thanks for reading. Consider subbing to the RSS feed.
